Introduction of Peel's Honey
About Peel's Honey
Peel's is South Africa's oldest honey brand - it was established in 1924.
All of our honey is 100% South African (not imported), and 100% pure (no additives).
The majority of our honey comes from our own hives in KwaZulu Natal and the Free State, and the rest is from trusted beekeepers throughout the country. We build strong partnerships with beekeepers to ensure that we supply the best quality honey from known sources. We also send honey from external suppliers to be tested at accredited laboratories in Germany and Italy to ensure that it is 100% pure and South African.
Frequently Asked Questions - Honey
Honey is what we are known for. All of our honey is 100% pure and local!
Q: What is the difference between raw, creamed, and liquid honey?
A: Liquid honey: liquid honey is the golden 'runny honey' that most people think of when they think of honey. It usually comes in a squeeze bottle. Liquid honey has its colour and consistency because it has been heated slightly and filtered before it is bottled in order to delay the crystallisation process.
Raw honey: Peel's raw honey is the purest form of honey, collected and bottled straight from the honey extractor with no clarification, heating or pumping through sieves. This is often the product bought by the health conscious, as it preserves all of the natural goodness that honey has to offer.
Creamed honey: Peel's creamed honey is made by gently whipping raw honey to give it a luxurious, thick and ultra-smooth texture. This can be used as spread and is also used by the health-conscious for similar reasons to the raw honey.
