Heart Work, Not Hard Work Donna Lizelle Counselling and Mediation is based in Cape Town, South Africa, where I offer more than just general counselling. My work is about creating safe spaces where people can breathe, be heard, and begin to heal without judgment, labels, or shame. It is about mental health support, in its most human form. After working in environments where care came with constraints and healing was treated like a checklist, I knew there had to be another way. I do it for the moments, the ones that change everything. Like the time a mother referred her teenage daughter, worried and overwhelmed. A few sessions later, that same mother came back with tears in her eyes: “The difference in my child is mind-blowing.” Running a healing business means doing your own healing, too. My dream is to make sure everyone knows their presence on earth is valid. I try to remain within my scope of practice and if I am unable to assist, referrals will be made.
