Adelphi Car hire

Adelphi Motors opened for business in 1946, in Main Road, Sea Point. The company specialized in the sale of used vehicles, and provided a Taxi service. In 1954, the premises were re-developed into a modern facility. Self-drive cars was offered, and Atlantic petrol sold from this facility. In 1976, the premises were again modernized. With the demise of the Atlantic petrol brand and the introduction of all South African Trek Petroleum, the petrol forecourt was converted to Trek. At this time, the country was experiencing threatened sanctions, and motorists rationed with fuel. During this time, the company was awarded the Ford dealer franchise for the Atlantic Seaboard, in Cape Town and Adelphi Car Hire re-launched as Adelphi Rent a Car. With the advent of democracy in 1994, the Trek brand disappeared on the South African landscape, and all Trek forecourts converted to Engen. In 2005, Adelphi Motors decided to focus on purely the Cape Town Car Hire business. With the challenges that faced those industries from 2007 caused by financial crises, it was a wise decision. Our long history has taught us service excellence, and we hope to be of service to you as you explore Cape Town and all its treasures.
